Accidents: Driver dies after head-on collision on B456

A driver was killed in a head-on collision between two cars near Bad Homburg. The 83-year-old was driving on federal highway 456 on Monday evening when, for reasons that are still unclear, his vehicle ended up in the oncoming lane on a straight stretch of road, police reported. His car crashed head-on into the car of a 54-year-old who was driving towards Wehrheim.

The elderly man was seriously injured and resuscitated at the scene of the accident, but died a short time later in hospital. The other driver was slightly injured.

The B456 was completely closed for around two hours. The police estimate the material damage at 100,000 euros.
