Demos in the city center: Warning strikes in Hamburg have begun
In Hamburg, people have to prepare for new restrictions today due to warning strikes in the public sector. Around 400 people, mainly from the city cleaning service, took part in a rally early in the morning, said the Hamburg regional chairman of the civil service union dbb, Thomas Treff. Many were annoyed that the employers had not yet submitted an offer. Treff announced that further actions were planned for next week.
The Hamburg city cleaning service had announced in advance that there might be restrictions on garbage collection due to the warning strike. However, the recycling centers should open as usual.
In addition, the dbb and the Komba union called on the employees of the Elbkinder daycare centers to go on a one-day warning strike. Employees of the HPA port authority and the cemeteries were also to stop work for a day.
The union and dbb want an eight percent pay increase for the collective bargaining employees of the Hamburg Labor Law Association (TV-AVH), or at least 350 euros per month. There will also be three additional days off, and even four for union members. The TV-AVH collective bargaining agreement is part of the collective bargaining negotiations for federal and municipal employees, which are currently being negotiated in Potsdam.
Verdi also calls for a warning strikeThe Verdi union is also calling on other authorities and state-owned companies to take part in a warning strike this morning. This concerns employees who are covered by the collective agreement for the public service of the states (TV-L). A demonstration march is to take place this morning from the union building (10 a.m.) near Hamburg Central Station to the finance authority on Gänsemarkt (11 a.m.), Verdi announced. According to the union, 1,200 to 1,400 participants are expected. The union's main demand is a collective agreement on part-time retirement.
