Six teams are still within their grasp of the cup triumph. The defending champion is only two wins away from another coup, and a third division team is hoping to cause another surprise in the quarter-finals. Things will remain exciting after that too.

Who else can hope for the title?

Defending champions Bayer Leverkusen and VfB Stuttgart are already in the semifinals, having won their quarterfinals three weeks ago. The other two teams for the semifinals will be determined this week. Today, Tuesday (8.45 p.m./ZDF and Sky), the only remaining third division team Arminia Bielefeld will host the recently struggling Bundesliga team Werder Bremen. On Wednesday (8.45 p.m./Sky), the two first division teams RB Leipzig and VfL Wolfsburg will face off.

This was due to the newly introduced intermediate round in the Champions League, Europa League and Conference League. To avoid a scheduling conflict with the UEFA competitions, two cup quarter-finals were scheduled later. The TV contract allows the games to be split up.

When are the last two rounds scheduled?

The two semi-finals will take place on April 1st and 2nd. The final will traditionally be played on May 24th in Berlin's Olympic Stadium.

Reaching the semi-finals brings a bonus of around 3.35 million euros. This would be a blessing for Arminia Bielefeld in particular, as the cup revenue is not included in the 7 million euro budget. The cup winners pocket 4.3 million euros, while the losing finalists can console themselves with around 2.9 million euros. The clubs that play against each other will each receive 45 percent of the revenue from ticket sales and advertising boards.

What awaits the cup winner?

In addition to fame and money, there is also a starting place in the upcoming league phase of the Europa League to be won. If the winner of the Bundesliga qualifies for the Champions League or Europa League, the starting place goes to the league. There it is then awarded based on the final table.
