Friedrichshain-Kreuzberg: Food is saved in the district with a neighborhood refrigerator

In the Friedrichshain-Kreuzberg district, Volkssolidarität Berlin has been offering a so-called KiezKühlschrank and a KiezRegal since mid-February. Rescued food that volunteers have collected in various shops can be picked up there, Volkssolidarität Berlin announced. The initiative, which is organized in cooperation with the consumer advice center and Foodsharing, aims to save and share food.
- Monday: 11:45 a.m. to 7 p.m.
- Tuesday: 10 am to 8 pm
- Wednesday: 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.
- Thursday: 1 p.m. to 4 p.m.
- Friday: 9:30 a.m. to 3 p.m.
According to the initiative, unused food that is left over at home should be brought to the KiezKühlschrank or KiezRegal. Packaged food, fruit and vegetables are accepted. However, meat products, delicatessen salads and alcoholic beverages are excluded.
According to Volkssolidarität, the initiative is looking for support: interested parties can help clean the fridge, update lists or sort groceries. Anyone who would like to help can contact [email protected]. There will also be regular updates on Instagram about new available groceries.
