On 6 July: First World Day for Rural Development
According to the Bavarian Ministry of Agriculture, the Free State of Bavaria invests around 170 million euros annually in rural and village development projects. The funds are intended to promote sustainable infrastructure, the preservation of the cultural landscape, and vibrant town centers, according to the Bavarian Ministry of Agriculture.
The seven rural development offices in Bavaria are supporting more than 2,500 projects, it was reported. These include the expansion of paths to farms, alpine pastures, and alpine meadows, as well as village renewal projects.
First World Day for Rural DevelopmentToday (July 6) marks the first World Rural Development Day. It was established by the United Nations General Assembly. According to the Ministry, it will celebrate not only villages and fields, but also "stories of people who shape their homeland with heart and hand."
