Operation in Dornbirn: Pellet stove explodes – resident escapes with dog

A fire broke out in Eisplatzgasse during the night after a pellet stove suddenly exploded.
At around 2:00 a.m., a resident checked the stove again before going to bed. Suddenly, for reasons unknown, the stove's glass pane shattered, sending glass shards flying through the apartment and thick smoke spreading.
The woman and her dog were able to escape outside, but suffered cuts to her feet from the glass fragments that were scattered everywhere. Despite the heavy smoke, she managed to leave the building without inhaling any smoke.
The Dornbirn fire brigade quickly responded and removed debris, including broken glass, pellets and the remains of the destroyed stove. Some neighbours had to leave their homes for a short time, but were soon able to return. The exact cause of the explosion is still being investigated.
