Rheinmetall presents new plant for artillery ammunition

Serial production of the 155-millimeter projectiles is scheduled to begin shortly at the new plant. Following a trial run, production volume will now be gradually ramped up: 25,000 rounds are to be manufactured this year, rising to 350,000 rounds by 2027. Including production at other plants, Rheinmetall aims to reach 1.5 million projectiles by 2027.
Rheinmetall has been present at its Unterlüß site for a long time; the weapons manufacturer already has a relatively small production area for artillery ammunition there, as well as other areas – such as the production of the Puma infantry fighting vehicle – and a kilometer-long shooting range.
