Volkswagen: Audi sales suffer under pressure from China and the USA

In North America – excluding Mexico – deliveries fell by 9 percent to just under 99,000 vehicles. Electric car deliveries also declined there, albeit at a somewhat slower rate. Audi stated that the current model offensive will only take effect gradually there.
Audi is currently in a deep crisis: Profits and margins have collapsed, key markets like China are weakening, and plant capacity utilization is poor. Ambitious growth and return targets are being clearly missed, and new billion-dollar holes are opening up. Gernot Döllner (56), Audi CEO since fall 2023, is considered an uncompromising, tough-minded restructuring expert. He is pursuing strict austerity measures, massive job cuts, and radical restructuring – even at the expense of the corporate culture. His leadership style is further fueling the unrest within the company, as the current cover story of manager magazin describes.
