Report: Spahn appoints Bilger as parliamentary manager

Report: Spahn appoints Bilger as parliamentary manager
Financial News
Berlin – Thorsten Frei is succeeded by the next Baden-Württemberger as Parliamentary Secretary of the CDU/CSU parliamentary group. As confirmed to the "Tagesspiegel" newspaper by several sources within the CDU/CSU parliamentary group, Steffen Bilger will succeed the designated Minister of the Chancellery. Jens Spahn, proposed by CDU leader Friedrich Merz and CSU chairman Markus Söder as the future leader of the CDU/CSU parliamentary group, has thus found what he was looking for on the day of his official nomination in his search for a Parliamentary Secretary who is considered a trusted person of the respective parliamentary group leader. Bilger has been a member of the Bundestag since 2009; he served as Parliamentary State Secretary in the Ministry of Transport and most recently as parliamentary group vice-chairman responsible for agricultural and environmental issues. Within the party, Bilger is not only one of only four district chairmen in the large Baden-Württemberg state association, but has also been a member of the CDU federal executive board since 2022. He has known Spahn since their time together in the Young Union.
