The miniskirt hype is far from over – how to style your skirt in autumn

The miniskirt hype is far from over – how to style your skirt in autumn

Styling a miniskirt: We present the five most beautiful styling ideas for autumn 2025.

When we look back on all this, we're old and shriveled, and I think 2025 will be remembered as the year of the miniskirt. Miniskirts were everywhere this summer—from the crowds at Charlie XCX and Lana Del Rey concerts to every bar on Friday night. But—and I hate to break it to you—autumn is just a few weeks away. That means only one thing: We have to come up with something new.

The cooler months don't mean we have to pack away our miniskirts , though. From slouchy leather jackets to tucked-up socks and loafers, styling miniskirts for fall is all about channeling that back-to-school energy, even if you haven't seen the inside of a classroom in years.

As far as I can remember, real uniforms, with their unflattering colors and strangely scratchy polyester fabrics, weren't always particularly attractive. This made it all the more important for adults to create their own ideal uniform—with simple, well-cut shirts, loafers, and a pleated skirt.

A vest and miniskirt have been a cool-girl favorite for quite some time now, but we don't have to say goodbye to it just yet. Just throw on a zip-up hoodie... and then a coat in November. In December, wear the same look but with tights .

#3 Denim skirt and biker boots

Biker boots are a lifetime investment, not just for one summer—and luckily, they're ideal for the changeable weather. But as always when it comes to clothing, do your research before buying. "Check the height of the shaft to find out where it ends on your leg and try on a few different sizes before committing to a pair," Joy Montgomery advised last year. If you opt for vintage models, "ask sellers on sites like eBay for more information on sizing."

#4 Miniskirt and T-shirts in a layering look

In most offices, the air conditioning seems to always be running at full blast, so layering is a must, even in hot weather. My favorite piece? A classic Noughties-style T-shirt over a long-sleeved look, which is also great for fall and makes any daytime outfit look casual and cool.

#5 Leather skirt and transitional jacket

Wearing a leather skirt in the middle of summer seems a bit out of place. In fall, however, it's perfectly acceptable—even desirable. Pair it with a transitional jacket and knee-high boots for a complete look. This looks best with an all-black look.
