BSW Youth Association | Second Savoy Cabbage at Wagenknecht's
Anastasia Wirsing (21) is chairwoman of the newly founded youth association of the Sahra Wagenknecht Alliance (BSW). The student from Jena wants to use her position "to get things right and build structures at the federal and state levels," she tells "nd." The "Sahra Wagenknecht Youth Alliance" (JSW) is officially just a working group within the party, and only BSW members are allowed to participate. Wirsing sees no problem: "The BSW and we have the same plan and the same goals."
Wirsing wants to place education and peace at the center of youth policy. She advocates no Bundeswehr advertising campaigns in schools, and no military conscription. She strictly rejects arms deliveries to war zones. The BSW is "the only consistent peace party in Germany," and the Left Party has therefore never been an option for her.
The former student representative is studying German and philosophy to become a teacher – she would ideally like to teach at a comprehensive school later on. BSW co-party leader Amid Rabieh calls Wirsing a political talent with internal party support. According to party sources, she has a close relationship with Sahra Wagenknecht. Wirsing's name is not unknown there: Her mother, Anke, sits in the Thuringian state parliament and made a name for herself with her attempted coup against the then state leader, Katja Wolf. However, Anastasia emphasizes that she did not follow her mother: "We joined BSW independently of each other because we believe in the same core values."
In the future, the JSW will have a dual leadership – initially, Wirsing will remain the sole representative for two years.
