Debate about summer holidays: Parents' association complains about long holiday duration

|
Parent representatives have criticized the high number of school holidays. "The holiday season presents an organizational and financial challenge for many families," Aline Sommer-Noack, deputy chair of the Federal Parents' Council, told the German Editorial Network. Six weeks of summer vacation with an average of 30 vacation days per year are almost impossible to bridge, "especially for single parents or parents without a family network," Sommer-Noack said. The Federal Student Council advocated for better vacation care. Schools should, for example, enter into partnerships with youth centers or sports clubs.
