Donald Trump has pushed through his tax and spending bill domestically.

US President Donald Trump intends to underline his domestic political victory by signing the major tax and spending bill on Independence Day. The day before the national holiday, the nearly 900-page bill, which is controversial in parts, passed the House of Representatives.

First Lady also present

President Trump has been pushing for the legislation, which he calls "One Big Beautiful Bill," for weeks. The signing is scheduled for this Friday afternoon (5:00 p.m. local time) at the White House around the Fourth of July celebrations, the White House announced. First Lady Melanie Trump is also expected to attend.

After the Republican votes in the House of Representatives gave Trump the victory - only two party colleagues voted against - Trump gave a speech before supporters in Iowa on Thursday evening before Independence Day.

Trump to supporters: "We will win"

He listed the law among the successes he had achieved since the beginning of his presidency. He said America was the most attractive country in the world. Trump prepared his supporters for Independence Day: "We are one people, one family, and one united American nation." They would never give up. "We will fight, fight, fight. We will win, win, win—because we are Americans."

Independence Day is one of the most important non-religious national holidays in the United States. Celebrations take place everywhere, everything is decorated in the colors of the US flag, and there are fireworks. On July 4, 1776, British colonies declared their independence from Great Britain, paving the way for the founding of the United States.

Extension of tax relief

At the heart of the tax and spending bill is the permanent extension of tax breaks from Trump's first term. New tax cuts are also planned. For example, a tax on tips and overtime pay up to a certain amount would be eliminated.

The bill provides for increased spending on U.S. defense and border security, but other areas, such as social services, are facing significant cuts. Criticism is particularly directed at the proposed cuts to the U.S. health care system Medicaid. This government program supports low-income earners and people with disabilities.
