Latest poll: Trump approval among Americans falls to record low

US President Donald Trump is currently polling at the worst level of any president in office. As he approaches the 100-day mark of his presidency, Americans' views of his actions so far have turned sharply negative, according to a new CNN poll by SSRS.
Trump's approval rating of 41 percent is the lowest a newly elected president has achieved after about 100 days, at least since Dwight Eisenhower, who served as president of the United States from 1953 to 1961.
45 percent reject Trump's handling of the officeApproval of Trump's handling of the presidency has fallen by four points since March and is seven points below the level at the end of February. Only 22 percent of respondents strongly approve of Trump's performance in office, a new low, and about twice as many respondents (45 percent) strongly disapprove.
Partisan views of Trump remain highly polarized, with 86 percent of Republicans approving and 93 percent of Democrats disapproving. However, among political independents, the president's approval rating has fallen to 31 percent, the lowest point of his first term among this group and roughly the same as in January 2021.
Public approval ratings for his economic policy have also declined. His tariff policy led to volatility in the stock market and triggered concerns about rising prices among the population. Only about half of those surveyed (52 percent) said they had confidence in Trump's economic policy.
