Russia and Ukraine: Prisoner exchange agreed

According to Russian sources, Russia and Ukraine have agreed to another prisoner exchange during their negotiations in Turkey. 1,200 prisoners are to be handed over to each side, Russian chief negotiator Vladimir Medinsky told journalists in Istanbul after the talks. It would be the largest prisoner exchange since the start of Russia's war of aggression in February 2022. In May, both sides had agreed to hand over 1,000 prisoners each. Negotiators from Moscow and Kyiv met for negotiations in Turkey on Wednesday. The meeting in Istanbul's Ciragan Palace ended after less than an hour, according to the Russian state news agency Tass. Expectations had been low anyway. Both warring parties had described a breakthrough towards a peace solution as unlikely. Their positions were too conflicting for that.
