War in Ukraine: Merz travels to Kyiv - European Quartet wants to increase pressure on Moscow

Three days after his election as German Chancellor , Friedrich Merz departed for his first visit to Ukraine as German head of government on Friday. Merz is traveling with heads of state and government of some of Germany's most important allies: French President Emmanuel Macron , British Prime Minister Keir Starmer, and Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk . They will meet with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky on Saturday morning.
