Aemet warns of a change in weather starting this weekend: "There will be a new surge."

The heat is relentless. After several days under the influence of an exceptionally warm air mass, much of Spain will continue to endure high temperatures this week. According to the State Meteorological Agency (Aemet), the weather will remain stifling in many regions, especially inland and in the Guadalquivir Valley , where temperatures could continue to exceed 40 degrees.

Although it will cool down between Friday and Saturday, that relief will be only a mirage. Forecasts point to a moderate drop in temperatures due to a slight change in atmospheric circulation, but it won't mean a permanent change. The Mediterranean will barely notice this drop , remaining at midsummer temperatures.

Starting Sunday, the mercury will rise again , and this new increase could lead to even higher records in parts of the central and southern peninsula. Warm air masses that will continue to arrive from North Africa will maintain the dry and hot pattern, with hardly any precipitation on the horizon.

The Aemet (Mexico City Meteorological Agency) has already issued heat warnings in provinces such as Córdoba, Jaén, Seville, and Zaragoza , which could be activated again next week. It is also recommended to pay attention to the nighttime heat, with lows above 25 degrees Celsius in many coastal and inland areas of the south.

The temperature contrast will be especially evident in areas of the north and northwest of the Iberian Peninsula, where the weekend's thermal relief will be most noticeable. However, the heat surge will soon reach these regions as the following week progresses.
