Barça's new lever arrives from the Congo: 40 million euros

FC Barcelona and the government of the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) have reached a four-year agreement to promote football, the culture of sport, and peace in the African country. Under this agreement, the club announced in a statement that Barça's professional teams will wear the slogan "RD Congo - Coeur de Afrique" on the back of their training shirts until the 2028-29 season. Although the amount Barça will receive from this agreement with the African country is not specified, the figure exceeds 40 million euros, 10 million per season.
As part of this collaboration, the Barça club will contribute to enriching the training of young athletes in the African country by transmitting its ecosystem of values. Thus, through the Barça Academies, it will create and develop a program of sports activities—including camps and clinics—for children in the region.
The goal is to promote structured and inclusive development in various disciplines such as soccer, basketball, handball, indoor soccer, and roller hockey. In addition, the Barça Innovation Hub (BIHUB) will develop specific programs for adults, with training paths for coaches that will foster talent and expand the knowledge of these professionals using the Barça methodology.
The topics will include advanced technical training, age-specific sports structuring, integration of sports science, and joint sports organization.
Furthermore, the agreement includes Congo becoming a Global Partner under the name 'Official Partner for Empowerment in Sport and Culture', and will have a presence at the future Espai Barça, as the Casa de la DRC will be created in the new Spotify Camp Nou facilities.
The DRC House will be an immersive exhibition welcoming stadium visitors to showcase the cultural diversity and sporting traditions of the Democratic Republic of the Congo, with the aim of strengthening ties with the Central African country.
Designed to captivate millions of visitors and FC Barcelona fans from around the world, the exhibition will showcase the richness and diversity of Congolese cultural and sporting heritage through interactive displays, with the aim of strengthening ties with this African nation.
