For being 'nothing to worry about': They ask to revoke Elon Musk's Canadian citizenship

A Canadian lawmaker's petition to revoke Elon Musk's citizenship for his involvement in "activities that go against Canada's national interest" has received the support of nearly 171,000 people since it was launched on February 20.
The petition was started by New Democratic Party (NPD) MP Charlie Angus and alleges that Musk “has used his wealth and power to influence” Canadian elections and is now “a member of a foreign government that is attempting to erase Canadian sovereignty.”
“We, the undersigned, citizens of Canada, call on the Prime Minister to immediately revoke Elon Musk’s dual citizenship and his Canadian passport,” concludes the petition, which will close on June 20.
Musk, the owner of the Social Network X, CEO of Tesla and SpaceX and one of the richest individuals on the planet, was born in Pretoria, South Africa, but holds Canadian citizenship thanks to his Canadian mother.
The controversial businessman has become one of US President Donald Trump's closest collaborators and has repeatedly supported the Republican leader's idea of annexing Canada, even using "economic force."

Federal employees across multiple U.S. government agencies have been asked to resume work over the past week or risk being fired, in the latest move by Elon Musk, who has been tasked by President Donald Trump to cut spending in the country.
In an email, marked “What did you do last week?”, employees are instructed to summarize their work over the past few days in “five points” by midnight Monday at the latest, US media have been able to verify.
On the X platform, Musk - who leads the so-called Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) - confirmed the veracity of this message and indicated that employees who do not respond will be fired.
“Failure to respond will be considered a resignation,” wrote the businessman, who has led a mass firing of public officials since Trump took office on January 20.
The email comes after Trump publicly called on Musk to be “more aggressive” in his actions with DOGE .
“Elon is doing a great job, but I wish he would be more aggressive,” the president wrote on the Truth Social platform on Saturday afternoon, February 22, “remember, we have a country to save.”
In response to Musk's threat, leaders of several federal agencies, as well as unions, have instructed their workers not to respond.
Newly appointed FBI Director Kash Patel has asked his employees to ignore Musk's demands, as have leaders at the State Department and the National Security Agency, according to reports in various US media.
Likewise, the two main federal workers unions also urged their members not to respond to the email yet.
After winning the election last November, Trump announced the creation of DOGE to cut bureaucracy and appointed businessmen Musk and Vivek Ramaswamy as its leaders, but the latter later disassociated himself from the organization.
Last week, Musk was in the Oval Office with Trump, detailing to the press the actions that DOGE is carrying out and assuring, in the face of criticism from the opposition, that his management is “transparent.”
To date, DOGE and Musk have led the dismantling of entities such as the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) or the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB), which is responsible for monitoring Wall Street and protecting consumers.
