Merchants and street vendors demonstrate against Torreón City Hall

A large group of merchants and street vendors from Torreón are demonstrating this Monday at the Plazas and Markets Department to denounce that the City Council wants to reduce the spaces for sales to three square meters in order to have greater revenue. They cited as an example that some of them have spaces of 10 and 12 meters and that they pay 31 to 38 pesos daily and now, they will have to pay the same amount but for less space.
They also denounce "political" interference by the National Confederation of Popular Organizations (CNOP) since there is allegedly intimidation and businesses are opening without authorization from the City Council.
The protesters arrived at the aforementioned office at 9:00 a.m. on this day and from there, they moved to the esplanade of the Plaza Mayor where at 10:00 a.m. an event is scheduled for the celebration of Flag Day where the mayor of the city, Román Alberto Cepeda González and other officials will be present.
Watching the arrival of the protesters, The director of Citizen Attention, Cristian López, approached them and told them that they want to reach an agreement with the City Council. , that they be left with the measures they had in their sales spaces and that the CNOP not intervene because this generates unfair competition.
