Roglic wears pink and Tarling wins the time trial

Joshua Tarling wins the second stage of the Giro d'Italia in the first time trial of this year. The Briton won ahead of Primoz Roglic by 1 second and Jay Vine by 3. Pedersen was unable to defend the jersey and finished seventh in the stage, 12 seconds behind the INEOS rider.
After the Dane was crowned champion of the first stage between Durres and Tirana, the second stage took place in the Albanian capital. This phase of the race is the opposite of the first, a time trial and urban challenge, in which the wind, the wide avenues, and the city's curves played a key role.
In the second stage, Tarling and Roglic stood out, unlike Juan Ayuso, who didn't have his best afternoon today. The INEOS rider set the benchmark time for much of the stage with a 16:07, and everything pointed to Primoz Roglic taking it. However, the time trial specialist was just one second behind, just shy of the best time.
The Slovenian made a statement, gaining 16 seconds on the Alicante rider in the overall standings. Ayuso, meanwhile, lost crucial time downhill and finished 10th in the stage. However, the Giro is very long, and the Spaniard will have more opportunities to fight for victory in the pink race.
The scare of the day fell to Richard Carapaz, who had to quickly correct his steering to avoid a crash midway through the course. This Sunday marks the third stage, a 160-kilometer mountain stage held in Valonne.
