Teachers work under protest at IESEN in Lerdo

More than one hundred teachers from the Institute of Higher Studies and Normal Education (IESEN) in Lerdo are working under protest due to the series of irregularities and arbitrary acts that, they claim, are being committed by the school's director, Lucía Hernández de la Fuente.
They pointed out that although the educational authorities have tried to make it seem that all the discontent is about the hours that have not been given to the family of a deceased teacher, the situation is more complex, since they have already prepared a petition that they will try to resolve tomorrow together with the leadership of the SNTE.
The school management has allowed in outsiders, who supposedly have the job of teachers but do not show up, while the workers have their salaries deducted, are disciplined and kept under constant surveillance.
“There are cameras everywhere, inside and outside the school. We put up the tarp and they ordered it to be removed,” said Salvador Rodarte.
He also questioned the attempt to use the institution and even the students politically for events of the Secretary of Education of Durango, Guillermo Adame, whom the students had to applaud when he went to start up a water treatment plant, which in his opinion, takes away their autonomy and critical sense in their training.
The protesters said that the appointment of the director violated the internal statutes, and that they will therefore express their objections at tomorrow's meeting.
The IESEN of Lerdo has a population of one thousand students.
