The Deer Moon is coming: When and where to see it?

Each full moon of the year has a special name that comes from ancestral traditions, mainly from indigenous peoples of North America, and this month is no exception, as the sky will gift us with the "Deer Moon," one of the most well-known and observed moons of the lunar calendar.

The Deer Moon is the traditional name given to this month's full moon in the Northern Hemisphere. Its meaning is deeply tied to nature and to the Indigenous cultures of the northeastern United States and Canada, who used the lunar phases as a reference for the passage of time and the arrival of the agricultural or hunting season .

In the case of July, it coincided with the period when male deer shed their antlers, which sprout covered in a soft layer of velvet. This marked an important moment in the animals' biological cycle.
