The new life of Adrián Rodríguez: from successful actor in 'Los Serrano' to his time on OnlyFans and his recovery from addictions

The 2000s left a great offer of Spanish television programs and series that are still very present in the collective imagination, and whose formats are recovered years later to the delight of the most nostalgic. The most recent example is Física oquímica. La nueva generación , a series that has just premiered on Atresplayer and that inherits the essence of Física oquímica (which aired between 2008 and 2011), but with new characters. One of the most recurring actors of this stage was Adrián Rodríguez (Cornellà de Llobregat, 36 years old), who became known for the successful series Los Serrano and who has now returned to the small screen to tell one of the most complicated chapters of his life.
Last Sunday, February 23, he sat on the set of Telecinco's Fiesta to open up to viewers and explain that not everything is as nice as it seems in the world of fame and television. "I felt very alone," Rodríguez acknowledged. He began in the world of acting as a child. At 11 years old, he participated in and won the musical contest Menudas estrellas , the children's version of Lluvia de estrellas . Although it seemed that his path had more to do with music, at 17 years old he debuted as an actor in Los Serrano . Here he played David Bornás, known as DVD , who was part of the group SJK (Santa Justa Klan) along with his castmates Víctor Elías , Natalia Sánchez and Andrés de la Cruz. A group born from fiction that jumped to reality, publishing an album, SJK (2005), which reached the top of the sales charts and with which they went on tour in Spain . In 2006 they released their second album, DPM, but the success was no longer the same and a year later the group broke up.
Although Adrián Rodríguez became one of the most beloved faces on television - he would later sign for Física oquímica, El chiringuito de Pepe and Your face sounds familiar —, the sudden success led him to a life marked by alcohol, parties and drugs. “I started very young in this whole world, I was too young to manage that madness of fame, money and so on. You try to do the best you can, but there is a void that you cannot fill when everyone knows you on the street,” he continued explaining on the Telecinco program. And he added: “As you grow up you take a path that you should not take and from which it is very difficult to get out. My acting career went awry as I began to stray from the right path, who was going to tell me that I would go from participating in successful series to being on OnlyFans ?”
Rodríguez left nothing out and spoke about his experience with drugs. “At first you take it as a game, like a child who starts trying things, to experience life. In the end it becomes an addiction to have a good time. When you break barriers, you see that your life takes a backseat and that is the only thing you want,” he said about how his downfall began. His worst moment would come after participating in the reality show Supervivientes in 2018, where he did not last even 20 days because of his addictions. This experience marked a before and after, he realized that the situation was unsustainable and he needed help from professionals. “You realize that you cannot continue with this type of life because you are suffering while you do it. I asked for help and I am still in it, because it cannot be said that I am recovered, I am still in the process and learning to cure myself of this disease,” he explained with total sincerity in one of the most watched programs on weekend afternoons. In fact, he thought it might be a good idea to be the one to offer support to others in the same situation: “I went too fast and when you go too fast, what happens happens, you get overconfident. I had to start from scratch again.”
“I started smoking, drinking and going out with girls, leaving even sport aside, and dedicating myself solely to work, having a good time and worrying about my family never lacking anything. I completely forgot about myself, believing that this was my path. At a professional level, I am still very proud and satisfied with all my achievements and anyone who knows me knows about my career,” he reflected last November when announcing that he had obtained his first official academic degree. Currently, he is in the process of rehabilitation with the sole objective of seeking a better version of himself while also being a monitor in drug addiction care centers and supervised housing. “I decided to qualify as a family interventionist because I know how bad it is for families, like mine... and how bad it was for my mother especially,” he explained last December on his Instagram account , where he has 181,000 followers. He has put his acting career on hold to focus completely on a recovery that means closing his chapter with addictions for good. “We’ll see,” he responded on Fiesta to the question about his future. For now, he has decided to return to social media, as he himself explained, to tell in a natural and simple way how he developed his addiction to drugs, “and how I am doing to have a new life project focused on helping people who at some point also forgot about themselves.”

Although he has already closed that stage in his life, Rodríguez started on OnlyFans because of his then fiancée, Susy Gala. “Being known, and with that plus of having so many gay fans, I saw that I would have a future. And that allows us, in addition to dedicating ourselves to this, to have independence for any project that we feel like. Creating all our content at home is a luxury. I have never had complexes or taboos, I feel like a free person,” he defended in an interview for Shangay in 2022. Although his last television project was in 2020, when he participated in the reunion of Física oquímica , he has remained closely linked to his roots. In 2021 he would try his luck in the world of music, when he released Pa'Que , a song that has accumulated more than 85,000 plays on Spotify. Since then, he has not tried his luck again. For several summers he returned to Peñíscola, where El chiringuito de Pepe was filmed, to become an attraction in the restaurant that bears the same name as the series and that maintains its characteristic decor. “Adrián Rodríguez will be with us this summer, welcoming all customers, sharing memories of the series and accompanying diners in their gastronomic experience,” the restaurant’s Instagram account proudly boasted in 2020.
