Young Yucatecan is sentenced for digital violence in Quintana Roo

QUINTANA ROO.- A young man from Yucatan, identified as Eduardo Augusto “N”, 22 years old, was sentenced to 7 years and 6 months in prison after being found guilty of the crime of digital violence against his former partner.
The case dates back to 2021, when the convicted man shared , on three different occasions, an intimate video of his then romantic partner , without the young woman's consent.
During the months of October and November 2021, I sent it via WhatsApp. By February 2022, the video spread further and ended up being published on the Facebook page. This further exposed the victim.
The judge pointed out that the victim, a student of Mayan origin, suffered a greater impact due to social and cultural factors related to her identity, gender, social class and community context. When she went out on the street, several people verbally attacked her.
After all the evidence provided by the social representation was analyzed, and after the arguments between the parties in the hearing to individualize the ruling, the Judge issued a ruling on the case .
In addition to the sentence of 7 years and six months in prison, Eduardo Augusto "N" must pay a fine of 37 thousand 966 pesos , as well as the amount of 327 thousand 500 pesos for qualitative and quantitative damage repair , totaling 365 thousand 466 pesos.
