In recent days, Puerto Rican singer Ramón Ayala, better known as Daddy Yankee, shared a video on his social media, announcing that he was returning to music this year after retiring in 2022.
While the clip only lasts a few seconds, the post was accompanied by a message that read: "I'm Back." The singer also added that he would release his new album, "Sonríele," on Thursday, July 10.

The singer assured that his musical concept will be different in this new phase. Photo: Instagram: @daddyyankee

Although the news revolutionized social media, many of his fans realized that the "Big Boss" began this musical career with a different stage name than the one everyone knows.
However, just hours before the premiere, journalist Mandy Friedman confirmed users' suspicions, highlighting that from now on the Puerto Rican will present himself as DY , since he changed the concept of his lyrics.
The journalist also explained that the change in her artistic identity is also related to what Daddy Yankee represents financially, given that the name is registered as a trademark that he shares with his ex-wife Mireddys González.
In that sense, Friedman stated that all the profits the "Gasolina" singer generated with his old identity will have to be shared with his wife and his ex-sister-in-law Ayeicha Castellanos.

Following Ayala's announcement that he was no longer Daddy Yankee but DY, several users are wondering if the artist's songs will now be related to his Christian beliefs.
Although the singer hasn't clarified certain details about his new role in the music industry so far, he has made it clear that his songs will feature messages of empowerment.

For his part, in the lyrics of "Sonríele," the Puerto Rican emphasizes that joy is a fundamental element for healing the soul and that we must also give thanks to "the one above" for giving us another day of life.
“No matter what happens, I'm going to be happy” is one of the phrases the artist constantly repeats in his most recent album, where he points out that even though he's been through bad things, more blessings always come.
