The cities and specific dates for the flying transport system's operations have yet to be announced, but on April 6, 2025, EHang announced flight authorization from the Civil Aviation Administration of China for the EH216 eVTOL vehicles.
The images show a futuristic experience with a pilotless cockpit, smooth takeoffs and landings, a panoramic view of the city, and a silent flight.
With these advances, the Asian country became a pioneer of a transportation model that could transform the way we move around large cities.
Air taxis can reach speeds of up to 130 kilometers per hour, with a range of 35 kilometers or 21 minutes of flight time, enough to connect different points in China's megacities in a matter of minutes.
Plus, the batteries recharge in just two hours, allowing for frequent use without long waits.
