Selena Gomez takes home her first SAG award for "Only Murders in the Building"

The Screen Actors Guild (SAG) Awards were full of memorable moments and surprises, but one of the highlights of the night was when Selena Gomez took the stage to accept the award for best ensemble cast in a comedy series for Only Murders in the Building. The actress and singer celebrated this important recognition with her co-stars at a gala that reaffirmed her acting talent. In addition, her co-star Martin Short was awarded best comedy actor, beating Jeremy Allen White of The Bear.

The winner of the Best Cast in Film category was the film Conclave, directed by Edward Berger, which beat out other strong productions such as Anora, Wicked and The Brutalist. The drama, which chronicles a meeting of cardinals to elect a new pope, took home the night's top prize, cementing its relevance in awards season.
In the individual performance category, Demi Moore won the award for best actress for her role in the horror film The Substance, an achievement that had also earned her a Golden Globe earlier this year. Meanwhile, Zoe Saldana won the award for best supporting actress for her performance in Emilia Perez. The actress used her speech to express her gratitude to the union:
"I'm proud to be part of a union that allows me to be who I am, that has never questioned where I come from or judged me for how I speak or what my pronouns are. I believe that everyone has the right to be who they are."
The event also served as a platform for political messages. Jane Fonda used her moment on stage to reflect on the adverse climate that workers have faced in recent years, although she avoided directly mentioning Donald Trump.
The 2025 awards season is about to reach its grand finale with the Oscars on March 2 at the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles, where the highest awards in world cinema will be presented.
