Why Ana de Armas Wasn’t at Tom Cruise’s <i>Mission: Impossible</i> Premieres

Ana de Armas and Tom Cruise are coworkers who have been sparking dating rumors for months. But de Armas opted not to attend Cruise’s Mission: Impossible — The Final Reckoning premieres in Cannes, France, yesterday or in London today.

The reason has nothing to do with their relationship status: De Armas is promoting her own project, the John Wick film Ballerina, in New York City. She was photographed there the past three days:

De Armas did an interview with Good Morning America this morning during which Michael Strahan asked her about working with Cruise. “It’s so much fun [doing action projects],” she said. “We’re definitely working on a lot of things. Not just one, but a few projects with [directors] Doug Liman and Christopher McQuarrie and, of course, Tom. And I’m so excited.”

Her remarks come hours after a source told Us Weekly that Cruise is interested in de Armas, who was last romantically linked to Manuel Anido Cuesta in February. Cuesta and de Armas’s relationship has since ended, the Us Weekly source said.

De Armas and Cruise started talking about work in February. Cruise was “super smitten” with the actress, the insider said, revealing that he developed feelings for her as they spent more time together.

“They’ve gone out on some dates, and it’s very low-key,” the source added. “It’s in the early stages, and he’s been courting her. [He is] really into her.”

De Armas is interested too but is acting “more cautious,” the source said. “She isn’t looking for anything to move too fast; she’s taking it really slow.”
