Christmas Bonus 2025: How to calculate how much workers will receive

The Christmas bonus is a labor right that all workers in Mexico must receive, as established by the Federal Labor Law (LFT) . This applies to permanent employees, confidential employees, unionized employees, those hired for a specific period or contract, temporary employees, commission workers, vendors, and others.
Even those who have not completed a year of service are entitled to receive a proportional portion of their Christmas bonus based on their time worked.
For this year, the Christmas bonus corresponds to 15 days' salary for a full year's work . The calculation depends on whether the salary is fixed or variable:
- Fixed salary: Multiply the daily salary by 15 days. Example: 100 pesos per day × 15 days = 1,500 pesos.
- Variable salary: the average daily income of the last 30 days worked is taken and multiplied by 15. Example: Monthly salary 12,000 pesos ÷ 30 days = 400 pesos per day × 15 days = 6,000 pesos.
If the worker has not completed a year, it is calculated as follows:
- Divide the days of bonus by 365: 15 ÷ 365 = 0.041.
- Multiply by the days worked: 0.041 × 280 days = 11.48 days of proportional bonus.
- Multiply by the daily wage: 11.48 × 400 = 4,592 pesos.
The Federal Labor Law establishes that employers must pay the Christmas bonus no later than December 20, 2025 , in a timely manner, ensuring that all workers receive this right without delay.
With this information, employees can anticipate their pay and plan their finances for the end of the year, ensuring they receive what they are legally entitled to.
