Jalisco's economic indicators are growing above the national average: Lemus

Guadalajara, Jalisco. Despite the trade and tariff policies implemented by the United States this year, Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) from that country grew 145% in the first half of 2025, stated Governor Pablo Lemus, while delivering his first State of the State Address.
"With everything that was said about the new tariffs, look at how much US investment in Jalisco grew during the first half of the year, 145%; that is, Jalisco has become this magnet for investment with the effect of companies relocating or nearshoring," he stated.
Lemus Navarro also highlighted that, according to figures from the Federal Ministry of Economy, the state attracted Foreign Direct Investment in the first six months of the year amounting to 933 million dollars; however, the standout figure was the category of new investments, which grew 435% compared to the first half of 2024, going from 38.2 million dollars to 204.6 million dollars.
Exports are growing
Regarding exports, Lemus Navarro indicated that in the first half of the year, the country's sales abroad grew by 5%, while Jalisco's exports increased by 41% compared to the same period of the previous year; that is, eight times more than the national average.
"This has never happened before; today, for the first time, Jalisco becomes the non-border state with the most exports," emphasized the governor of Jalisco.
He also highlighted that according to IMSS records, one out of every 10 jobs in the country are generated in Jalisco, while two out of every 10 companies that register monthly with that institute belong to this state.
Semiconductor Architects
Pablo Lemus also highlighted that the state advanced six positions in terms of competitiveness according to the ranking of the IMCO (Mexican Institute of Competitiveness), and that of the semiconductor design done throughout Mexico, 70% is done in Jalisco.
"The world's leading semiconductor design and production companies are in Jalisco... We are the architects of semiconductors worldwide," he emphasized.
He anticipated that the Kutsari National Semiconductor Design Center will be operating in March 2026 at the Cinvestav facilities (Center for Research and Advanced Studies of the IPN).
Acknowledges disappearances
At the start of his first year in office accountability exercise at the Cabañas Cultural Institute, Governor Pablo Lemus acknowledged the crisis of disappearances in the state, which he described as a "tragedy," and assured that the first step to solving the problem is to make it visible.
In front of relatives of the disappeared present at the venue, the president reiterated his public apology for the omissions committed by past governments, and mentioned the case of Rancho Izaguirre in Teuchitlán, an alleged recruitment and extermination center which, he assured, will be resolved.
"Recognizing a problem is the first step towards solving it. Today I want to welcome the groups and families of victims of disappearance; thank you for your dedicated work," he said.
Among those attending Pablo Lemus's first report were the governor of Nuevo León, Samuel García; the national leader of Movimiento Ciudadano, Jorge Álvarez Máynez; and the former leader of the orange party, Dante Delgado, who confirmed that he is cancer-free.
