Mexico will continue to export tomatoes to the US, says Claudia Sheinbaum

MEXICO CITY.- This Tuesday, during her usual morning press conference, the president of Mexico , Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo , expressed her rejection of the reactivation of a compensatory quota of 17.09% on Mexican tomato imports after Washington officially withdrew from the Tomato Suspension Agreement (TSA) but assured that exports will continue to our northern neighbor because "there is no substitute."
"We disagree with this measure taken by the United States Department of Commerce . It's an existing agreement, one that was already attempted to be withdrawn, that was withdrawn, and that had to be reintroduced due to the impact it has on the economy and consumers in the United States," the president stated.
Claudia Sheinbaum emphasized, however, that domestic tomatoes will continue to be exported "even with the tariff, because there is no substitute," she emphasized.
