Minute by minute: Congressmen prepare for the installation of a new legislature

Installation of Congress
This July 20th marks the inauguration of the fourth term of the Congress of the Republic under the administration of President Gustavo Petro. The start of this term not only sees the election of new boards of directors, but also marks the beginning of the final round of this administration's work to advance its proposals.
The expectation, shared by congressmen, analysts, and technical bodies, is that this will be a legislative term focused on a minimal, technical, and viable agenda; in which the president and his cabinet must avoid a legislative gridlock at all costs, prioritizing the political commitments he needs at the end of his administration.
This is how the installation of Congress is progressing- 3:24 pm: The roll call for the Legislative Assembly installation begins to verify which congressmen are in the National Capitol for the installation of the fourth legislature.
- 3:00 pm: Senator Miguel Uribe has spent more than 40 days in the ICU after being the victim of an attack on June 7. His seat in Congress was decorated with a photograph and a Colombian flag.
