TOLUCA, State of Mexico – The State of Mexico has the experience to propose bases and guidelines that constitute a new electoral model, Governor Delfina Gómez Álvarez assured while leading the Public Hearings for Electoral Reform and recognized President Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo for promoting this initiative to guarantee more equitable, transparent and reliable elections.

“The government listens to its people because democracy is not limited to voting. Democracy has shown us that no process is ever finished; democracy lives and evolves. It is a permanent work that requires updating in the face of new social, technological, and economic challenges,” stated Governor Delfina Gómez.

In the auditorium of the Judicial School, the State Governor pointed out that for the Fourth Transformation, citizens are at the center of the decisions and policies that drive the country and highlighted the importance of the State of Mexico, being the entity with the largest number of voters.

"We, the people of the State of Mexico, know well that true transformations are built by being close to the people, listening to the voice of the people and engaging in dialogue with the citizens. That is why I celebrate that these hearings are a pluralistic, respectful and inclusive space where all voices count," expressed the Governor of the State of Mexico.

He expressed his gratitude for the participation of social organizations, citizens, political parties, academia, and representatives of all three levels of government in contributing their proposals to strengthen the country's electoral system.

She stated that she is confident that the conclusions drawn from the 18 presentations of the exercise will allow for the integration of a consensus proposal with a great vision for the future.

Arturo Zaldívar Lelo de Larrea, General Coordinator of Policy and Government of the Presidency of the Republic, highlighted that the proposal for the Electoral Reform will be based on the analysis of what has worked and on the proposals obtained from these Public Hearings held in all federal entities and those received through the microsite enabled for this exercise.

“We have renewed Judicial Powers, they will begin to deliver the results that the people demanded with their vote and we will very soon have a proposal for electoral reform in which we can all see ourselves reflected,” he said.

For his part, Héctor Macedo García, President of the Superior Court of Justice of the State of Mexico, emphasized that participating in these Public Hearings is to reiterate his commitment to continue being an institution open to dialogue and in which collaboration between branches of government prevails for the benefit of the citizens.

Those present at this democratic exercise included: Martha Azucena Camacho Reynoso, President of the Board of Directors of the LXII Legislature of the State of Mexico; Arlen Siu Jaime Merlos, President Magistrate of the Electoral Tribunal of the State of Mexico; Nereida Berenice Ávalos Vázquez, President of the Toluca Regional Chamber of the TEPJF; Amalia Pulido Gómez, President Councilor of the IEEM; Horacio Duarte Olivares, Secretary General of Government and Jesús George Zamora, Legal Counsel.
