The report also reveals that in Colombia, concern about fake news on the internet is high : six out of ten Colombians (59 percent) are concerned, and the majority identify politicians and digital influencers as the main sources of misleading information.
This has led to public trust in the news falling to just 32 percent, the lowest level recorded since Colombia joined the Digital News Report. On the other hand, it was reported that 14 percent of the Colombian population pays for online news content.
AI and trust in the news This year, the Reuters Institute reveals the rise in the use of artificial intelligence (AI) in news organizations for content development, an activity that has been elevated with the idea of "engaging with audiences, monetizing content, and creating tools that facilitate the task of reporting and verifying information."
In this regard, the report explains: according to surveys, audiences in Colombia have no problem with the use of AI in journalism, as long as there is "supervision by journalists" in such activities.
