Goodbye Tesla: The company's situation is so dire that Musk has had to fire his most influential executive.

Goodbye Tesla: The company's situation is so dire that Musk has had to fire his most influential executive.

Despite the fact that it seemed Tesla was going to take over the market and drive out the rest of the manufacturers, the company founded and chaired by Elon Musk is experiencing one of its worst moments in history, if not the worst.

This is due to a combination of economic, commercial, and political factors. On the one hand, there is the significant drop in Tesla sales, especially in Europe (down 45% in January) and a global decline of 13% in the first quarter of 2025.

This could be due to several reasons, including the rise of its competitors , such as the Chinese brand BYD, but also due to the magnate's political influence, which has undoubtedly cost and damaged his image and leadership, generating boycotts and a growing rejection of the brand. Furthermore, his confrontation with Trump has added volatility and distrust in the markets. And all this is happening at the same time that the electric vehicle market is growing 15% year after year.

That's why Tesla has taken significant steps, and in recent weeks, Omead Afshar, who was one of Musk's closest confidants and had been promoted to oversee sales and manufacturing operations in North America and Europe, has "left" the company.

Abandoned or invited to leave, as Tesla's top brass appears to have decided someone had to be sacrificed due to the significant decline in sales, especially in Europe and the US. His departure follows that of other senior executives amid a context of cutbacks, strategic changes, and demands for immediate results in the face of this significant crisis the company is experiencing.

It's striking that no one is holding Musk accountable to the company. Although a group of investors already called him out a few weeks ago for his recent lack of involvement in Tesla, we can be sure that the tycoon is one of the reasons for the company's downfall.

The company will have to separate its brand from its public figure, try to reconnect with former customers, and demonstrate that it remains the technology leader it once was.
