Majadahonda will invest more than five million in 133 security cameras with artificial intelligence.

The mayor of Majadahonda, Madrid, Lola Moreno, highlighted the security situation in her municipality and expressed confidence that it will be strengthened with the installation, "before the end of this term," of 133 cameras that will assist the Local Police, thanks to artificial intelligence, in tasks related to security, traffic, mobility, and low-emission zones.
This was stated during an interview with Servimedia, where he praised the recent addition of 20 Local Police officers , twelve men and eight women, who are now on the payroll, with which "we hope to improve security in the municipality, which is one of our fundamental objectives."
He also noted that the fundamental objective is to meet the recommended ratio for all municipalities, which is 1.8 police officers per thousand inhabitants . After retirements, "we weren't at that ratio," so he welcomed the new additions.
Moreno noted that they are working on a security camera project for the entire municipality, which will have 133 locations and a budget of over five million euros. "Majadahonda is a safe city, but it certainly needs to be even safer," he asserted.
In this regard, the mayor noted that some municipalities already have them, and "the results are certainly unquestionable." Thus, "we want to establish points throughout the city, both for safety and to regulate traffic."
The Majadahonda councilor emphasized that these will be "smart cameras" that can be used to determine certain parameters , in addition to having a "social function." Therefore, for example, "if an elderly person goes missing, the computer will be able to determine what they were wearing and locate them," as will a specific individual who has "committed a crime." "It will have artificial intelligence parameters that will undoubtedly improve life in Majadahonda and its security."
Moreno reported that the bidding process is now open and that the deadline for submitting offers is July 31. "The idea is to have it awarded once all the contracting committees have passed and have it finalized by the end of the current term."
Regarding crime in the municipality, the mayor commented that the latest data she has is from the first quarter of 2025 and emphasized that, compared to figures since records began in Majadahonda, "we have the best data in the last six years regarding conventional crime."
On this matter, she did acknowledge "a certain upswing" in cybercrime , although she assured that it has been widespread across all municipalities. "Everything related to online scams and all of this has certainly increased, but this is widespread," concluded the mayor of Majadahonda.
