More powerful models at Samsung

NEW YORK (EFE).— Samsung yesterday unveiled its new foldable phones, the Galaxy Z Fold 7, Galaxy Z Flip 7, and the budget-friendly Z Flip 7 FE, during the “Unpacked” event held in New York. It also announced an expansion of its partnership with Google to integrate more artificial intelligence (AI) tools into its devices.
“The Galaxy Z Fold 7 has been redesigned to be the thinnest and lightest Fold yet,” the company highlighted during the presentation.
The device measures 4.2 millimeters thick when unfolded and 8.9 millimeters when folded, weighing less than 225 grams. Among the Fold 7's technical improvements, Samsung highlighted the increased screen size: the exterior is now 6.5 inches and the interior reaches 8 inches, compared to 6.3 and 7.6 inches, respectively, in the previous version.
“Capture the finer points of every scene and let our next-generation ProVisual Engine do the rest,” the company said of the new rear camera system.
This combines a 200-megapixel wide-angle sensor, a 12 MP ultra-wide-angle lens, and a 10 MP telephoto lens.
The Fold 7 will start at $1,999 and is available for pre-order online now. The first shipments are scheduled for next Friday, the 25th.
The Galaxy Z Flip 7, also unveiled yesterday, features a larger 4.1-inch external display and a 6.9-inch internal display. "The device is thinner, just 6.5 millimeters thick when unfolded," Samsung said. It starts at $1,099.
The Galaxy Z Flip 7 FE, a more affordable edition of the series, was also unveiled during the event. It will start at $899.99 and be available the same day as the other models.
Rick Osterloh, Google's senior vice president of devices and services, appeared in a pre-recorded video to announce that the AI Mode tool will be integrated with Circle to Search to allow for additional visual questions. "The AI will now be able to respond to what it sees through the camera, without needing to open the phone," he explained.
The collaboration between the two companies also extends to the Galaxy Watch Ultra, Watch 8, and Watch 8 Classic smartwatches. “AI will be available to users just by speaking to their watch,” Samsung added.
The company also announced that several native apps, such as Notes and Calendar, now integrate features powered by Gemini, Google's AI, allowing access to tools such as automatic summaries, smart event planning, and contextual responses within the Galaxy ecosystem platforms.
