Among the 16 chosen places is Chicago, which enters this ranking for the first time , along with regions such as Jasper (Canada), Viti Levu (Fiji), Oulu (Finland), Asheville (North Carolina) and the Algarve (Portugal).
In Latin America, two destinations of great environmental richness stood out: Patagonia Azul, in Argentina , and Peru, with an offering that combines biodiversity, adventure and unique cultural experiences.
Founded in 1957, Frommer's has changed the way the world travels, now offering nearly 100 travel guides, along with resources and information on its website. Its annual "Top Places to Go" list is a curated selection of recommendations designed to introduce travelers worldwide to the most relevant and enriching people, places, and cultures on the planet.

Chicago: architecture, culture and major premieres in 2026
Frommer's highlights key milestones that make Chicago a must-see destination: the opening of the Obama Presidential Center, the new magic space The Hand & The Eye at the McCormick Mansion , the Architecture Biennial, International Jazz Day and the centennial of Route 66.
Kristen Reynolds, president and CEO of Choose Chicago, celebrated this recognition, noting that the city offers “unparalleled culture and cuisine , history, and world-renowned architecture.” She added that 2026 will also include the WNBA All-Star Game, further solidifying the city's status as a magnet for visitors.
The capital of the state of Illinois also continues to accumulate key industry accolades, as a few weeks ago it was once again chosen as “Best Big City in the US” by Condé Nast Traveler and recognized by Time Out as one of the best cities in the world for culture.
Beyond the recognition of established destinations like Chicago or the Algarve, the presence of Patagonia Azul and Peru confirms that global tourism is increasingly oriented towards authentic experiences, protected nature and living culture, a scenario in which Latin America has the challenge and the opportunity to position itself strongly.
