Are the July 14th fireworks under threat?

Due to the heat and drought, several Dordogne towns have decided to cancel their traditional July 14th fireworks displays to avoid the risk of fires.
Drought and heat are not sparing the Dordogne. While across France, departments like Aude (11) or towns have decided not to hold their traditional July 14th fireworks displays to avoid the risk of fires, some Périgord villages have also chosen to be cautious. This is the case in Lisle, which announced this news in a Facebook post this Thursday, July 10, but it is also the case for the towns of Abjat-sur-Bandiat and Saint-Saud-Lacoussière.
In a press release, the Dordogne prefecture also decided to ban the purchase or use of fireworks by private individuals from Thursday, July 10 to Tuesday, July 15.
For now, the fireworks display in Périgueux and Bergerac is still on, as are other towns in the Dordogne. This situation could change over the weekend.
