Jean Maïa proposed by Emmanuel Macron for the presidency of the High Authority for Transparency in Public Life

The current Secretary General of the Constitutional Council was proposed by Emmanuel Macron to head the High Authority for Transparency in Public Life.
Skip the adEmmanuel Macron proposed on Tuesday, February 25, that Jean Maïa , current secretary general of the Constitutional Council, be appointed head of the High Authority for Transparency in Public Life (HATVP), the Élysée Palace indicated in a press release.
"The President of the National Assembly and the President of the Senate are being notified of this proposed nomination, so that the relevant committee of each assembly can decide," the Presidency of the Republic specified. Only a qualified majority of three-fifths of its members could prevent the nomination.
A graduate of Normale Sup Ulm, Sciences-Po and ENA - his classmate was Édouard Philippe -, Jean Maïa, 54, is a State Councilor. He has been Secretary General of the Constitutional Council since 2017.
Created in 2013, the HATVP is an independent administrative authority responsible for receiving, monitoring and publishing asset declarations and declarations of interests of certain public officials. It has been chaired by Didier Migaud since January 2020, before the latter was appointed Minister of Justice in Michel Barnier's government in September. Patrick Matet has been acting as interim president since then.
