Faced with the rise in violence and drug trafficking in certain areas of Toulouse, residents and social landlords have decided to take the lead by relying on an original system: GITES, for Inter-Neighborhood Group for Tranquility and Safety.
Batons, bulletproof vests, and patrol dogs. Every day, until midnight, a dozen sworn officers patrol some fifteen deprived housing projects in the Pink City. Their mission: to regain control of the common areas, too often taken over by drug traffickers.
