Adèle Castillon, artist of confession

All summer long, we've been exploring the new landscape of popular music in France. Today, we explore an artist who uses her own life and her own flaws as the material for her songs.

Adèle Castillon is a confessional artist. When she talks about a couple breaking up, she does so in the first person singular, taking the blame on her side—as in Oh non, the final song from her album Crèvecœur, released in February 2025.
For her, love often gets off to a bad start, isn't simple, isn't joyful. Love, for Adèle Castillon, always has a context: depression, alcohol, medication, addiction. Which ultimately makes these songs important in the artistic landscape of the time.
