The famous watch brand has just unveiled its first in-house calibers, the result of three years of work with the Besançon engineering school, SupMicroTech.
Lip , the French brand that went down in history, among other things, for its strike and self-management episode in 1973, created a surprise by announcing the production of an automatic movement, the LIP R26. Reworked on the basis of a Japanese reference caliber, it will equip three families of new steel models from 39 to 41 mm in diameter, available from 890 euros: a very vintage Annapurna, a very maritime Nautic 666 and a very Arienne Type 14 aircraft watch. "However, we will not touch what works," explains Pierre-Alain Bérard, the brand's general manager . There will always be quartz LIP T18s at 489 euros, whatever the purists say. Even if it may not be fine watchmaking, today, it is what pays our employees' salaries!"
Since taking over the brand in 2014, SMB-LIP has been working to restore meaning to the old slogan “Lip, it’s possible!” by gradually reindustrializing its production in Besançon. It…
