Lyon Metropolis. Dua Lipa, NRJ Music Tour, Soolking... to see on our stages this week

It's the event of the moment: British singer Dua Lipa is performing two evenings of (sold-out) concerts that promise to be intense on Thursday and Friday at the LDLC Arena. Other artists will be on stages throughout the metropolis, such as Algerian artist Soolking at the LDLC Arena or singers Vitaa, Charlotte Cardin and Lénie, gathered for a free (invitation-only) concert as part of the NRJ music tour, on Saturday at the Palais des Sports.

International pop music stars are coming to Lyon this year. Before Katy Perry and Lady Gaga in November, Dua Lipa will be performing at the LDLC Arena this week (Thursday, May 15th and Friday, May 16th).

The young British singer has just resumed a European tour in Madrid, stopping in Lyon and Paris, in the wake of her third album, Radical Optimism, released over a year ago.

May 15th and 16th at 7:30 p.m. at the LDLC Arena in Décines-Charpieu. Sold out. https://www.olvallee.fr/

Lyon 7th • The melting-pop of Soolking at the Halle Tony-Garnier

It had been scheduled for November 8, 2024, before being pushed back a few months. The time has now come for Soolking's concert at the Halle Tony-Garnier this week. In the meantime, the artist released a new album in February, Africa Jungle Part.1, in which he sings a duet with some big names in the urban music world (Niro, Gazo, SCH, etc.).

The Algerian singer, a former underground artist who emerged from the shadows with Guerilla, his first hit in 2018, now plays his musical pop melting pot at the crossroads of rap, raï and Latin-inspired music in large venues.

May 16 at 8 p.m. at Halle Tony-Garnier (Lyon 7th). Prices from 39.5 to 69.5 euros. www.halle-tony-garnier.com

The NRJ Music Tour returns to Lyon this Saturday, May 17th, at the Palais des Sports de Gerland. After attracting a large number of spectators last year, the free event promises an exceptional evening with Vitaa, Charlotte Cardin, Lenie, Jungeli, and Ridsa. To attend the concert, tickets must be won by listening to the eponymous radio station or by entering the raffle on the NRJ website. A great atmosphere is guaranteed for this new edition of the traveling musical show launched in 2004.

Oullins-Pierre-Bénite • Ray Lema and Laurent de Wilde during the Renaissance

The piano is the king of jazz instruments, as the face-off between Ray Lema and his longtime partner Laurent de Wilde reminds us. The two keyboard poets, with their distinct profiles, have at their fingertips a veritable orchestra, with its profusion of harmonic, rhythmic, and melodic means. "Wheels," their second album recorded together, takes us on a journey to Ethiopia, the Congo, the Caribbean, the United States, and Nigeria, celebrating the music of Fela and Mulatu Astatke along the way. Between African tradition and jazz, Ray Lema and Laurent de Wilde bring forth a universal music that embraces all the cultures of the world.

Tuesday, May 13 at 8 p.m. at the Théâtre de la Renaissance, 7, rue Orsel Oullins-Pierre-Bénite - Prices: €5 to €27 - Tel. 04.72.39.74.91.

Stories of bananas, rice, tomatoes, peanuts, palm trees, sugar, chocolate... From the first minutes of the show, tantalizing smells of spices take us far from Europe.

A chef prepares a mafé for us, which culminates in a shared meal. In this culinary and theatrical ritual that blends poetry, flavors, music, dance, gastronomy, and documentary, Éva Doumbia explores the origins and culture of food, revealing a colonial history that is still at work on our plates...

Autophagies, from May 14 to 17, prices from €6 to €19, Théâtre de la Croix-Rousse. Place Joannès-Ambre. Lyon 4th. 04.72. 07.49.49 www.croix-rousse.com
