The Franche-Comté agency Coup de cœur is organizing three speed dating evenings in Montbéliard over the next few weeks. Each one is aimed at a specific age group. On Friday, September 12, seniors will break the ice in the hopes of finding their other half.

At first glance, there was little chance that Françoise and Jean-Pierre* would end up in each other's arms. She, a teacher in Montbéliard. He, an employee in the automotive industry in Pont-de-Roide, with variable, sometimes late hours. Each with hobbies, a busy life, but no connection between them. Neither geographical, professional, or friendly.

In her fifties and a little too single for her liking, Françoise is looking for a Prince Charming. "In my professional activity and my hobbies? Impossible. Since it was closed at those levels, I tried other things." The Montbéliard resident installed a dating app but was immediately disillusioned. "Not everyone wants the same thing..."

In January 2025, she forced fate and opened the door of the Coup de cœur marriage agency. "I wanted something serious. An agency filters out the curious and the undecided." The filter lies in the registration process and the money spent. For Françoise, it's a question of several hundred euros. April 2025, Coup de cœur organizes a speed dating event in Besançon. An hour's drive from her home. "But I tell myself it's worth it. With the agency, it's serious and reassuring."

Jean-Pierre starts from the same premise. The Rudipontain also has an hour's commute. The two fall under each other's spell. "We wrote to each other a few days after the speed dating." Since then? "We've been together and very happy! We live together, one week in Pont-de-Roide, the other in Montbéliard. We alternate depending on our schedules and family obligations. We were really right to ask for outside help to meet."

To allow other "Françoise" and "Jean-Pierre" to tempt Cupid, the dating agency has planned a series of three such meetings in Montbéliard, open to members and non-members alike. "They don't take place in a café with other clients, but in a room reserved for the occasion, to ensure a discreet atmosphere. Participants are more comfortable, away from prying eyes," explains Stéphanie Bergey, founder of Coup de cœur.

Each of these events is aimed at a specific age group: 30-45, 45-60, and over 60. The older generation has an appointment this Friday evening. "In medium-sized towns, like Montbéliard, there is sometimes some reluctance to take the plunge and go to a marriage agency. But we feel it's coming, that minds are freeing up. The testimonies of our former singles lend credibility to our actions."
