Lyon Capitale has selected one event per district for you for the 2025 Music Festival on Saturday, June 21.

The Fête de la Musique will liven up the streets of Lyon on Saturday, June 21, from noon to midnight. The program features rock, folk, hip-hop, and world music, all punctuated by unique highlights, including two concerts by the Lyon Symphony Orchestra, which will perform in the main courtyard of the City Hall.

The varied program this year isn't exactly highlighted by the very cluttered page on the official website. To help you navigate this festive day more easily, Lyon Capitale has selected one event per arrondissement.

  • The Maîtrise of the National Opera of Lyon at the Museum of Fine Arts: From 10:45 a.m. to 11:25 a.m. and from 11:45 a.m. to 12:25 p.m., the National Opera of Lyon will offer a choral moment in the refectory of the Museum of Fine Arts with the young people of the Maîtrise, accompanied in particular by the adults of the academic choir.
  • Jazz, musical comedy and rap on the Quai Saint-Antoine: Musical space No. 4 on the Quai Saint-Antoine is planning an eclectic program with, starting at 6 p.m., the Saint-Rambert music school performing jazz and blues standards, followed by students from the International Academy of Musical Comedy from 8 p.m. to 10 p.m. Lyon rapper Sounet will conclude the evening with his compositions.
  • Improvisation, clarinet, and symphonic metal on the Quai Augagneur: Music space No. 2 on the Quai Augagneur is certainly the most surprising offering for this edition of the Fête de la Musique. Between improvisation, musical discussions punctuated by clarinet melodies, and symphonic metal blending violins and electric guitars, the evening promises to take you far from your usual playlist.
  • Rock, funk, and hard metal on Croix-Rousse Boulevard: It's hard to choose just one event in Croix-Rousse, as the neighborhood is so spoiled this year. At music venue No. 3 on the boulevard, techno, trance, and taz are out, and rock and metal are in. From 6 p.m. to 10 p.m., the bands Inertie and Freesound will perform rock, funk, and pop. They'll then give way to Dawn Harbor and their metal compositions.
  • Rock, world music, and pop on Quai Romain Rolland: In the 5th arrondissement, Quai Romain Rolland and its Annie et Régis Neyret promenade will be the epicenter of the party, with no fewer than six musical spaces from 6 p.m. to midnight. It's impossible to be exhaustive, but everyone should find something to enjoy, especially pop-rock fans who will have plenty to choose from with nearly a dozen bands throughout the evening. For folk fans, the band Ford Prefect will perform from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.
  • No event on Saturday, but Brazilian music, blues-rock, and a DJ set will be featured on Place du Général Brosset on Friday evening : this year, the Fête de la Musique (Music Festival) in the 6th arrondissement will take place on Friday, June 20, starting at 7 p.m. No events are planned for Saturday, the day of the festival. Several concerts are planned, including Brazilian music and rock.
  • Trance, bounce, and hard house at the Halle Tony Garnier : Starting at 3 p.m., the Halle Tony Garnier will vibrate to the rhythm of percussive music by composer Lucie Antunes. Then, from 5 p.m. until 11 p.m., trance, hard house, and bounce artists will take to the forecourt of the legendary venue for an open-air afternoon.
  • The social centers and the youth center bring the garden of the French Expeditionary Force in Italy to life: the Gisèle Halimi and Mermoz social centers are joining forces with the MJC Laënnec-Mermoz to organize a day of music, enlivened by workshops and food stalls.
  • Reggae, hip-hop, and rap take center stage at Roquette Park: 69 Next Gen returns for a second edition celebrating young talent from the rap, reggae, and pop scenes. A total of nine artists will perform on stage from 4 p.m. to midnight.
