On Netflix, more than one in two subscribers watch anime

Long gone are the days when anime was left to children and geeks! It's now a staple of Netflix's offerings, watched by more than half of its subscribers. What are the implications for the industry?
Netflix took advantage of the Anime Expo, which took place in Los Angeles from July 3 to 6, to reveal some figures that impressed The Hollywood Reporter, one of the leading sources of information on the American entertainment industry.
According to in-house figures, more than a billion animated content items will have been watched on the platform by 2024. "The number of subscribers watching anime has tripled in the last five years" worldwide, the Californian weekly also reports.
