Orient Bambino 38: A vintage Snoopy watch made in Japan

The affordable Japanese brand is unveiling a collection dedicated to Peanuts to celebrate its 75th anniversary.
Skip the ad Skip the adWho said you had to break the bank to wear a beautiful mechanical watch on your wrist? Japanese watchmaker Orient has made this a point of reference, with quality timepieces available for just a few hundred euros. To celebrate the 75th anniversary of the Orient brand, as well as Peanuts, the famous comic strips created by Charles M. Schultz for the American press, the Japanese watchmaker is unveiling four models this summer featuring Snoopy on the dial. Charlie Brown's famous dog is sometimes accompanied by Woodstock, the bird who serves as his inseparable companion. In three-quarters of a century of existence, Peanuts has seen many watchmaking incarnations and product variations of all kinds, including a recent temporary pop-up store entirely dedicated to Snoopy, created with the Parisian boutique Merci.
This time, it's Japanese Orient watches that are putting him in the spotlight, notably with a deliciously vintage 38mm diameter Bambino, cut for all wrists. But also for all wallets, as it's available for only €399. In white or cream versions, Snoopy is resting here not on the roof of his doghouse, as usual, but at 6 o'clock on the dial, lying on the "Water resistant" inscription that acts as a hammock. This 38mm Bambino with domed glass combines a date at 3 o'clock and Dauphine hands. It beats to the rhythm of an automatic F6724 caliber "made in Japan" offering a 40-hour power reserve, visible through the transparent caseback.
Alongside these Orient Bambino models (7,800 pieces with a white dial, 3,100 with a cream dial), this collection also includes Semi Skeleton models (1,900 pieces) and Mako 40 (3,800 pieces), all powered by the same caliber. Expect to pay between €399 and €449 to treat yourself to these, particularly via the new Orientwatch.fr website.
