The Abbey Museum offers a wide range of activities: from guided tours of the temporary exhibition and the archaeological basement to various workshops for the general public, the last two weeks of July, at the heart of history and art, promise to be a cultural experience.

During this summer season, it's great to enjoy the pleasures of swimming, cycling, or just relaxing. But it can also be a good idea to cultivate oneself and nourish oneself with cultural heritage during the hottest hours of the day.

Thus, the team of the Abbey Museum, around Valérie Pugin, its director , offers a series of artistic, historical and fun activities in this place, steeped in local history, since it is located on the site of the Abbey of Saint-Claude, built in the 5th century.

The next event is a guided tour of Laurent Proux's temporary exhibition, "The Tree and the Machine" , some of whose realistic works were designed during his artistic residency at the museum and were inspired by the industrial know-how of the Haut-Jura region. Other paintings draw on idealized naturalism and leave plenty of room for the imagination... Friday, July 18 at 3 p.m. Price: €7.50 and €8.50. All ages from 8 years old (duration: 1 hour).

Friday, July 18 at 5:30 p.m .: “Emblémata.” As part of the “Women in History, Stories” festival, the museum welcomes Manolo Onnis, who will offer a lecture-writing workshop that mixes poetry and medieval images, through the works of three 20th-century Italian poets. Free. All ages 15 and up (duration: 2 hours).

Tuesday, July 22 at 10:30 a.m .: Guided tour “The Museum in Small Steps,” dedicated to toddlers, discussions and visual discoveries! Prices: €6 to €7.50, children from 2 to 5 years old accompanied (duration: 30 minutes).

Tuesdays, July 22 and 29 at 3 p.m .: Guided tour of the archaeological basement. The remains of the abbey. Prices: €7.50 and €8.50. All ages 8 and up (duration: 1 hour).

Wednesday, July 23 at 10 a.m. and 3 p.m .: Cyanotype workshop, a technique that allows images to be created using the sun's rays. Price: €7.50, ages 6 and up (duration: 1 hour 30 minutes).

Wednesday, July 30 at 10 a.m. and 3 p.m .: Paper stained glass workshop. Price: €7.50, ages 6 and up (duration 1 hour 30 minutes).

Fridays and Saturdays : two escape games, “Save the Relic” (basement) and “Museum Robbery” (upper floors). Price: €65, 3 to 6 players, ages 10 and up (duration: 60 min).
